Brinn Labs Open House
March 1 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Visit Brinn Labs to learn more about the Betty Brinn Museum’s Maker Initiative projects that together are among our most important investments in our community since the Museum’s opening in 1995:
The Google Making Spaces Hub Program – now one of twenty Google Making Spaces Hub institutions nationwide, we will work directly with a number of area schools to help them develop makerspaces, including staff training, space design and development, crowdfunding and ongoing programming support;
Maker-Educator Training – as collaborators with the New York Hall of Science, the federal Department of Education and other institutions, the Museum has developed national training models for K-12 teachers, after-school program staff and others in the field. These programs can be customized to meet specific needs and are Title funding eligible;
The Be A Maker Teacher Studio – a partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education’s Departments of Educational Psychology and Curriculum and Instruction. Generously supported by Rockwell Automation, the Teacher Studio is dedicated to sharing best practices in maker education in free, year-round professional development workshops;
Makerspace workshops and classes for everyone – introductory programs in February include Arduino Basics, Fiber Optics, Cyanotype Printing, OpenSCAD and Soft Circuits. Check our website for information on these and other classes and workshops – sewing, ceramics, lasers, metalwork and more – that will be offered this spring; and
Maker Faire Milwaukee – celebrating our fifth annual Faire September 28-30, 2018. Maker Faire Milwaukee is the largest FREE admission Faire in the United States and one of the largest of the more than 200 Maker Faires happening around the world.
The Brinn Labs Open House is free and open to the public. Plenty of convenient, free parking is available. Equipment demonstrations and hands-on projects will be offered throughout the day.
