Noise Knowledge Consortium Presents Mike Schauwitzer (of Slow Owls/Mildew)
January 26 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pmFree
The Noise Knowledge Consortium is a brand new series of workshops and concerts that brings (mostly) local experimental musicians into a casual/informal environment to share some of their knowledge and skills as weird musicians.
A stalwart of the Milwaukee noise scene, Mike Schauwitzer has been making noise for decades with his brother under the name Mildew and solo as Slow Owls. Aesthetically, the music varies from performance to performance: at one moment harsh, and another in full on drone mode. Lurching, still, absurd, dark, and everything in between. However, the obsessive use of tape loops within his improvisations remains constant along with the meticulous attention to detail. With only scant releases available, Schauwitzer remains one of Milwaukee’s best (and best known) secrets.
This workshop is suitable for all ages. (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.)
This is a free event but a suggested donation of $5.00 is recommended to help support the artists.
